Good to know

New to Indian food?

No dictionary needed. A few things that make a first order easy.

  1. Start with a creamy curry

Butter chicken, chicken korma and tikka masala are traditionally mild and creamy – the dishes most people fall for first.

  2. Add naan or rice

A curry is a sauce; sides are ordered separately. Tear the naan and scoop, or let basmati rice soak up the sauce – best with both on the table.

  3. You choose the heat

Tell us how hot you like it when you order and we will adjust. Vindaloo and madras are traditionally among the fierier dishes.

  4. Too hot? Reach for yoghurt

Raita (seasoned yoghurt) and plain yoghurt cool things down – better than water. Worth ordering one alongside any curry.

  5. Meat-free is a full meal

Paneer is a fresh Indian cheese that keeps its shape when cooked; daal is spiced lentils. Palak paneer and daal makhani are great first picks, even for meat lovers.

  6. Order to share

In India dishes go in the middle of the table. Order two or three different ones and everyone helps themselves – the best way to taste more.
